Where This Started
When we started looking into home solar storage, the experience was frustrating. Most review sites either recycled manufacturer press releases, buried honest conclusions under affiliate links, or were so technically written they assumed you already had a degree in electrical engineering.
We spent a lot of time — probably too much time — reading specs, watching installation videos, comparing datasheets and talking to people who had already built their own systems. Eventually the picture became clear. And once it did, we thought it was worth sharing.
What We Actually Do
We research thoroughly before writing anything. For each product category we look at real specifications, user experiences, long-term reliability reports and value compared to alternatives. We try to answer the question we would have wanted answered before we knew what we know now.
We do not test every product in a lab. We are not professional installers. What we do is read everything we can find, think carefully about what it means for a typical home buyer, and write it plainly.
How We Choose What to Recommend
Every recommendation on this site passes three questions:
- Does it actually do what it claims? Specs matter, but so does real-world performance over time.
- Is the price justified? Expensive is not the same as good. We call out overpriced products.
- Is there a better option at this price? We only recommend something when it is genuinely the right choice — not just because it has a strong affiliate programme.

It does not change our recommendations. If a product has a lower commission rate but is a better choice, we recommend the better product. We have done this many times and will keep doing it.
